DARIO FRODO
Dario Frodo is a guitarplayer/composer/producer hailing from Flanders, Belgium. Dario has been touring large parts of Europe and the USA for two decades with various projects and bands. He recorded 5 studioalbums and toured with world renowned psychedelic progrockers Quantum Fantay. Between 2010 and 2018 Dario was also part of Belgium’s biggest heavy metal exportproduct Ostrogoth during the ’80’s. “Full Moon’s Eyes” and “Ectasy and Danger” are cultclassics that have their place in hunderdthousands of metalheads’ music collection. Dario also wrote, played and produced the critically acclaimed “Last Tribe Standing”album from Ostrogoth that was released in 2015 and was Ostrogoth’s first album in 27 years. In 2016, Dario founded a new band with fellow Ostrogoth bandmates Tom Tee and Stripe, called Thorium. Not to be mistaken with the re-united Danish deathmetal variant, the Belgian Thorium brings you breathtaking twinguitars over a pumping rhythm section and soaring vocals by Dutch seasoned singer David Marcelis. The band has released two albums so far, the self-titled release “Thorium” in 2018 and “Empires in the Sun” in march 2021. Both albums have been receiving nothing but critically acclaimed reviews and the band toured parts of Europe between 2018 and 2019. This is certainly a band to check out if you like metal in the veins of Gamma Ray, Helloween, Riot, Sanctuary and Queensrÿche.
Dario also wrote and produced the music for the instructional DVDs of 7 times worldchampion trialbike Kenny Belaey. As for his gear, Dario was an endorsed Brian Moore Custom Guitars player from 2005 to 2009, where he got the offer from Paul Reed Smith Guitars to join the PRS family. Dario stayed with PRS until 2015. Over the last years Dario collaberated with high-end manufacturer Skervesen hailing from Poland. About his choice for ThePicksHouse Dario says: “It isn’t always easy to find good pics with a great finish that play instantly comfortable and stay in good quality for a longer time. The guys from ThePicksHouse make it happen, against an incredibly affordable pricerange available for any player. Next to that, they are extremely supportive, fast in production and shipping and you can instantly tell they have a heart for what they do, I can only highly recommend these guys!”
Watch out for Thorium as they are planning on touring Europe and (possibly)Japan in 2022/2023 while entering the studio to record their third album as follow-up for “Empires in the Sun”.
